HOW TO USE THE STITCH ESTIMATION GUIDE

1.      Place the grid over the design or logo to be estimated.

2.      Count the total number of squares in which the design appears, including any squares only partly filled. For the squares partly filled the following rules apply – less then 50% counts as 750 stitches, for greater than 50% counts as 1500 stitches.

3.      Using Chart A at the foot of the grid, decide how many stitches will be necessary to embroider the design (for example a design which occupies 4 boxes will take 6000 stitches to embroider).

4.      If additional lettering is required around the design or just individual words or names, Chart B should be used for estimation. Note: The minimum letter height for embroidery is 6mm.

5.      To establish the number of stitches required for lettering only, measure the height of each letter, and count the number of letters to be applied.

6.      Chart B shows the number of stitches which each letter will require, depending upon letter height. (For example of 9mm letters will take 135 stitches to embroider, so a five word comprised of 9mm letters would have a stitch count of 675 stitches). The lettering must be counted if on top of stitching or around the logo.

7.      Estimated stitch counts should always be rounded up to the nearest 1,000 for pricing purposes.

This grid will provide an estimated stitch count for pricing purposes. Fine adjustments may be necessary to ensure the quality of embroidered logos.
